‘Little by Little’ is very grunge like song with multi-layered drumming patterns which gets you moving and singing, it is also probably the most traditional ‘guitar’ song on the album. ‘Lotus Flower’ is a classic song that you can see featuring in future set-lists for years. Always different, thought provoking and always have you coming back. The other songs on this album are vintage Radiohead. Ironically some of the releases that they have done since then from the same recording sessions are much, much better songs. Magpie’ is, especially by Radiohead standards, just a very poor song on which you would normally class as a B-side. The latter two mentioned you can appreciate although in the grand scheme of the album they can feel a little out of place and I must say that ‘Mr. Magpie’, ‘Feral’ and ‘Give Up the Ghost’ just seem a little thin. The issue is that with 8 tracks you need them all to be brilliant and sadly not all of them are. This though is the albums best quality in that the more you listen to it, the more it offers.

It is a very odd sounding album, full of lots of different drumming patterns, blips, sounds and heavily echoed vocals. It is though not about quantity but quality and TKoL is… being honest… A little bit short on this front. At a smidge over 38 minutes long TKoL is, I believe I am right in saying, the bands shortest album and only offers 8 tracks. Well, first impressions… It is short you could even argue it is not so much an LP but more an EP. He has been with you through your highs and the only people you can blame for your lows are yourselves. This is a shockingly bad album that you can’t blame your long term producer for.
Then trying to say how the album was a magical concept album and was heavily influenced by the amazing Brian Eno.
The band, mostly Chris Martin, have spent most of the last month in the build-up saying how they know how their lyrics are shit, that they can’t compete with the likes of Justin Bieber and Adele on a musical level, the days of selling 10’s of millions of albums are gone. Hence they toured the album before its release, so it was mixed in with the impressive back catalogue and hoped no one would notice. Put in that lyrically this is the worst work Coldplay have ever done shows some very worrying signs and the fact is… Coldplay know it. The best way to describe it is, they have tried making something new (which is a great idea) but also thought “oh shit, what about our old fans?” Which means that this album just does not flow properly and it does not make sense.
